Thanks…

…to all of you who donated to the Sparkly Purse of Giving at Dens’ b-day on Saturday night. I know the Venn Diagram of Charitini Birthdays has a lot of overlap, and when you throw in Goods4Good, Charity:Water and the various other Twitter and Tumblr campaigns, it means that this is a group that is stepping up pretty consistently.

So thanks to everyone who fished in their purse or wallet or pocket, or that of the dude standing next to them, and filled my little purse with paper. You collectively gave $107 (counted in conjunction with G4G’s Soraya Darabi, just in case I was tempted spend it on hookers and blow)*. That’s in addition to the $462 raised/pledged online (and if you pledged, please don’t forget to pay!). That means that over $500 was raised for Goods4Good just because Dennis was cool to forgo birthday drinks, and his friends are so freaking awesome.

(BTW, I actually had to restrain Andrew Krucoff from giving again after he’d already donated $50 and $100 to Katie Bakes’ birthday charity. Mensch.)

Anyhow - $500 is not a huge number, but Charitini birthdays are meant to be small-grossing events, because they’re about micro-giving (donation-instead-of-a-drink). Just think of how much could be raised if everyone on your Tumblr dashboard had one. (Summer birthdays! Email me.)

But anyway: Party was great - Dens doesn’t look a day over 26 - Destination is a terrific party spot (thanks, owner Dan Maccarone for your donation) - and Dens’ mom made AMAZING cupcakes. And they were free, so really it’s like we MADE money. Happy birthday Dens!
