Rachel Sklar had better be fully about this [stuff].

Balk, I and my rack are on it.
(OMG HOW CAN SHE REFERENCE HER RACK? I THOUGHT SHE WAS A FEMINIST! IS SHE A TRAITOR OR A HYPOCRITE? AND CAN SHE ACTUALLY DO MATH OR WHAT?)
A day late: I hadn’t heard of Ada Lovelace - though the last name rings a bell! - but she certainly sounds like she was badass. Some other badass laydeez in tech n’ stuff include Sarah Lacy, whose book I am just loving right now - she’s a great storyteller but more than that she’s really nailed this snapshot of what’s emerging as a pivotal time; people like Elizabeth Spiers, Lindsay Robertson and Amy Blair, whose sharp and hilarious work was the first of its kind I encountered, back when I was still temp-lawyering and just peeking into the rabbit hole of the Internets (also, I owe Spiers my career, so there’s that); danah boyd, whom I just encountered for the first time at SXSW and whom I sort of regard as the Stephanie Zanoni of tech (this interview is the online equivalent of rocking some serious stepladder); Jen Bekman and Paddy Johnson, who continuously bonk their heads against the wall so we don’t have to (as much); Heather Gold, who I also met at SXSW and whose sticker I am still wearing on my computer bag, because she’s awesome and also she’s Canadian; Rachelle Hruska, who has quietly been building this powerhouse of a site that is getting more and more entrenched every day, because the girl works like an animal; my other SXSW girlies Jenna Wortham and Kate Miltner, who make my head spin around with their observations; my other other SXSW girls like Caroline McCarthy who just amazes me - how does she pump out that kind of copy yet still check in on FourSquare everywhere yet still go to the gym and run and go, like, white water rafting - I just gape at that kind of full-barrelled productivity; Jackie, Alisa and Kristen from I’m Just Sayin’ who each have the brains and personality and instincts and sensibilities to fucking take off (seriously, do you understand Alisa’s blog? I don’t); and people like AntiKris and Frangry who are both in my Tumblr crush list for a reason, that reason being that they are fucking smart and hilarious and waaaaay ballsier than I will ever be; and there are more - many more - but I’m getting a little tired of having to justify this stuff. I’m pretty new to this scene on this level - see above where I had never heard of danah boyd before SXSW - so I wouldn’t hold myself out as the last word on who the BESTEST AND TOP women in it were. These are just some of my first picks of the kind of women who write the kind of stuff that I want to read and say the kind of stuff that makes me stop and listen, and learn.
But I like boys too.
